SUNRISE HIKE and BREATHWORK

My first sunrise hike in Hong Kong was with a community called Retribe.

Waking at 5AM and ascending a hiking trail by 6AM, we expanded our lungs with breath work at a high altitude.

As the sun rose from the distance into a new dawn, one of the profound answers to life was right before me. Watching a new day begin presented a raw cathartic moment of what it meant to live and exist.

Any external challenges or past pains were minuscule because the sunrise was far more mighty in its shining glory. As it defiantly and proudly lit the sky as a declaration of a new day, it was a beautiful reminder that witnessing the birth of sunrise was a sign of being truly alive no matter how far removed from self or consumed by grief one could have felt before that moment.

Within our lifetime, it is a blessing to experience moments of sunrise as much as sunsets and to allow ourselves to seize the possibilities of what each day has to offer.

Here’s to life.

Here’s to a new day.
