YOGA TEACHER TRAINING - APRIL 2020

Years ago, I would have never imagined taking on yoga teacher training. I was quite content attending classes and being taught by yogi friends. I also had the assumption that it was the most ideal to take teacher training on an exotic island in Bali, Thailand or somewhere tropical as most of my yoga teacher friends trained abroad in a month long intensive course. While I didn’t have the luxury of taking a sabbatical or a month off, I was glad to take the course while working a full time job in Singapore.

The life lessons learned from juggling a full time job while studying a 200 hour yoga teacher training course has brought new meaning to the term self-discipline and the possibility of applying balanced wellbeing in the daily grind.

The surprising realisation was that it is possible to balance both while living in the city.

As the weeks of training progressed, it helped to shift my mindset to a positive approach to work life, to view problem solving the way I would approach learning an asana and applying pranayama breathing daily instead of holding in stress.

Something that most yogis will tell you when you’re a newly 200 hour certified teacher is that it’s only the beginning of your journey. This is true and I finally understood upon graduating in April 2020 that there is so much more knowledge and philosophy to absorb.

I’m thrilled for what the yogic journey has in store.
